Decorating

I am making a lot of plans to decorate the house. Most of them receive eye rolls from Brian, but I forge ahead (he loves me, I can get him to agree to anything within reason...right?!) So....I love the new trends in wallpaper and want to think that I am brave enough and have enough design sense to wallpaper at least a wall right?

I was thinking this master bedroom wall, which you can see from the rest of the house if the door to the room is open (our bed is in the same spot.)

And these are the wallpapers that I am considering:

Harlequin: Passion in Duck Egg Blue

Prestigious Reflections: Divine Porcelain

I love both of them, unfortunately they are both only available in the UK and the shipping costs the same as the wallpaper does. But still semi affordable...semi...! I think I am going to have to order samples!

In the meantime my parents are going to come over on Sunday and help us paint the bedroom a tan/gold color and paint the bathroom a light gray blue color. I am excited and a little nervous to see how it turns out!

I what do you think about my desire to paint and the wallpaper choices?

Dark Age

So I kind of feel like we are living in the dark age and it has been nice. Our Internet and cable will not be set up at the house until next Tuesday. Which is one of the reasons why I have not really updated the blog at all. I want to post all the pictures I took of us moving but without the Internet at home it is a little hard.

Without cable or Internet to distract us it has been nice. We sat on the back patio last night and talked and have been getting things done around the house. We absolutely love the house and are surprised by some of the things that feel like luxuries. I love parking in the garage and just walking into the house, it is something that I didn't think I would enjoy but I do. Having all new appliances is also nice, even though I live in fear of breaking something!

We have been having lawn drama, but that is a story for a different time! Hopefully we will get it all figured out. My parents are going to come and help us paint the bedroom on Sunday and stay the night. I am very excited for that! Sometime next week I will post a bunch of awesome pictures!

"I can't imagine that it will take more than 45 minutes!"

Those were famous last words! That is what I told Brian when he asked me how long he should get someone to cover command for him while we signed all of the papers for our house. I scheduled it for 11:15am yesterday thinking that I would be home and in bed by 12:15pm. I am was so naive! I was home and in bed by 1:30pm (in case anyone cares that made 24hrs without sleep for me!)

Signing definitely took longer than I thought, but it was totally worth it! We got our house and we couldn't be any more excited! The final figures were less than what we were originally thinking which was nice, since we stressed a lot about the final figures.

Since our schedules are so opposite (esp. with me working 12 hour shifts the first couple weeks of school) we didn't even have a chance to go over to the house and take a picture, or drink a glass of celebratory champagne. We are hoping to do that tonight!

Happy Birthday Addison!

Today is my niece, Addison's first birthday! I love this little girl so much! She is absolutely beautiful and already has a the best personality. Brian and I are lucky to be blessed with so many wonderful nieces and nephews. Maybe I will have to start wishing them all happy birthday on here! These photos are ones that I took of Addison at 11 months. We were hanging out at the house and she just looked so cute!

I Swear...It isn't Always Like This..

Our house, to put it lightly, is a mess...I am pretty sure it was a tornado...or maybe a hurricane. I wish I had children to blame it on...Amy (just kidding!) But I don't...yet!

The following pictures are horrendous, here is your warning to hit the little x button in the upper right hand corner if you have delicate, ummm, eyes. Some are from a couple of days ago and some are from today...after we (AKA Brian) cleaned...oh boy here they are...

On a positive note, we are obviously packing and feeling really excited about the house! Only three more days until we close. It is just so unbelievable! We are so lucky.

Getting Close

It is getting close to that day that we have been looking forward to and hoping for. One week from today we will be closing on our house. That is if things go as planned. It has been a crazy month. I haven't written to much about the house that we are buying because at first it was such a quick thing and we didn't want to get our hopes up. Just as we were starting to get our hopes up crap hit the crapper.

We didn't end up qualifying for the loan that the mortgage broker assured us that we would qualify for. The loan was a rural development loan and we didn't have to have a down payment. This was the only reason that we even started looking at houses. We would have been fine waiting a couple more months, but once you find the house that you really want, it is so hard to back out...and we already had paid for the inspection and put escrow money down... So we decided to ask my family for the money for a down payment, which was one of the last things that we wanted to do.

So now, here we are, one week away from closing and two weeks away from when we have to be out of our apartment. Brian is away on a business trip and I have started packing. We have bought blinds for the bedroom (so we have them when we move in, consequently they are back ordered until the end of September) and are absolutely floored that we are going to have such an awesome house.

However, their is such a strong feeling of hesitation. Almost like we jinxed ourselves by starting to pack, and buying things for the house. If this falls through it is going to be so awful. Here's to keeping our fingers crossed and our hopes up!
